Big Oil
This print is about the struggle of native peoples and environments of underdeveloped nations against the exploitation of their natural resources. In many areas corrupt governments work hand in hand with multinational oil corporations to rape the land of oil in order to make a profit. Unfortunately, this is done with a complete disregard for environmental destruction and its effect on native people. In the Niger Delta region people now endure acid rain from natural gas flaring, nearly complete crop destruction from oil spills and oil infrastructure and the constant threat of military attack if they protest, all without any compensation. Terrible, right? …And yet over half of Nigerian oil is sold to the United States.
